    Twitter is Over Capacity

Twitter is Over Capacity - AGAIN

Twitter is Over Capacity - AGAIN

This is a prime example of how success can sometimes be synonymous with failure. Twitter has been growing at an extremely rapid pace and their system seems unable to handle it. Many people have been taking advantage of automatic following programs to get thousands of followers quickly, seemingly at the expense of the program and the community at that. I’ve had follower after follower add me day in and day out, and they all seem to be self-proclaimed Internet Marketing experts that just started following over 2000 people.

Now, I understand that there is nothing in Twitter’s program or site copy that says you can’t use a program to follow multiple people, but it seems to be getting out of hand. If you want quality traffic, why not attract people who are actually going to convert on your site? Social marketing is meant to be about making real, authentic connections with your fans. This format is turning into a new age version of a mass marketing platform, like network TV was in the 50s – everyone sees it whether they like it or not.

Honestly, I would like to play the “How many followers do you have” game. But I think I’ll leave that to the other ‘Experts’ out there. I want relevant traffic from people who want to hear what I have to say, not just pad their stats. So if you follow me because a program added me on your behalf, I’m not going to follow you. I don’t care what kind of “FREE Money making tips” you have for me.

It fascinates me how people could make money from Blogs. Here in South Africa or even Africa. Most youngsters don’t even think of becoming Entrepreneurs,Bloggers etc.

Fully concur. It’s about quality, not quantity. I’ve never understood why folks think massive numbers represent the key to business success. It’s almost like reading those pay-per-post blog entries: who on earth actually believes a word of it?

    “In This Economy”

I don’t know about you but I’m getting sick of people using “This Economy” as an excuse for everything these days. They whine about how the economy is hurting them and that companies should understand their worries. The problem is that the people complaining are the ones with regular income coming in and are screwed because of their poor spending habits!

I was on a website the other day and was reading a 1 star review on Flight Centre wondering what makes them so bad. The guy proceeded to explain how he put a non-refundable deposit on a particular vacation and, when he cancelled that one, they wouldn’t apply his deposit to a different vacation. Why this bugs me? He’s pulled the “This Economy” card. I hate that! This Economy is No Excuse to Cry If You Have an Income

The guy sits there and explains to us that the reason they should “have sympathy” is that “in this economy blah blah blah!” What the hell does the economy have to do with anything? At least you can afford a vacation, unlike the thousands of people across Canada losing their jobs. There is absolutely no connection with you being poor with money and the state of our economy.

Honestly though, that’s what happens when ignorant people talk about politics. They don’t understand what a Recession is and find it a convenient way to justify their growing debt, “It wasn’t me it was the economy.” Boo hoo, YOU screwed up. Try getting layed off from a job you worked at for 23 years because of cost cutting and see how your money problems grow. Then you’ll really be effected by “this economy”!

I Think I Hate My Building

    I Look Like Alfalfa

    I Look Like Alfalfa

The title says it all – I HATE my building. It’s not that I don’t love my apartment, the location, or anything else. It’s just that every day for the past week, my water has been practically turned off excepting for a tiny little trickle (just barely enough to brush my teeth with). I have waited till about 7pm every night to have a shower and it’s driving me CRAZY!!!!

Just look at my picture. What if I had a business meeting today and I showed up looking like Alfalfa from the Little Rascals? The thing that bugs me most is how unapologetic management is about this. There were no warnings that the water would be turned off during the day, nor any indication of what time it would be turned back on. ARGHH!!

Well, the thing is that they’re re-paving the parking lot in the back and have been working on it for the past couple weeks. The noise was expecting (jack-hammers and Catapillers). It was this water thing that was a complete surprise. Sadly there’s no end in sight. What was supposed to be two weeks tops was changed to “Until further notice” just last night.

So, I’ll stop whining now and wallow in my own filth for just another hour or so. Then it’s off to the wonders of cleanliness once again as I enjoy my daily show over 9 hours too late. Makes me glad I don’t have a day job!

    T-T-T-Twitter Bugs

So this morning has been a lot of fun. Trying to set up my brand spanking new Twitter account turned out to be more of a challenge then I thought it would be. I’ve spent the past half hour trying to upload my background pic and I’m pretty much going insane! Apparently I’m not alone in my frustration though as people from across the community have shared their complaints and the Twitter folk are working on it. Hopefully I’ll be able to update it real soon!
